Women in Arboriculture
Originally founded in 1999 as a Special Interest Sub-committee of the International Society of Arboriculture Australia Chapter (ISAAC), Women Of The Trees (WOTT) initially had a dozen Victorian and South Australian members. After representation at the Australian Arbor Camp in 2000, WOTT enjoyed steady growth thereafter.
During the ‘Innovation in Urban Ecological Management Conference and Workshops’ held in Brisbane on the 1st of March 2011, WOTT was re-launched under the new name of Women in Arboriculture.
Women in Arboriculture will still encourage greater participation in the Women’s Divisions of events at both local and national Tree Climbing Championships, but will now focus more broadly on promoting and encouraging the growth and visibility of women in arboriculture.
The group will be concentrating on achieving their aims which include:
Achieving greater attendance and event structure for women attending events such as Arborcamp
Ensuring greater involvement of women through attendance and speaking engagements at Arboriculture Australia conferences, seminars and workshops
Connecting women regionally, nationally and internationally via the Women in Arboriculture online forum, newsletters, updates and information packages
