The Senior Tree Protection Officer role will primarily be responsible for administration of the Urban Forest Act 2023 and providing technical advice to the community and stakeholders on tree related matters.

A team within the ACT Government, URBAN TREESCAPES manages and maintains more than 823,500 trees on parklands and streets throughout ACT. Specific responsibilities include the planting, watering, and follow up maintenance of newly planted trees; the maintenance of established trees; the removal of dead and dying trees; the administration of the Tree Protection Act 2005; the assessment of tree related claims; and the provision of technical advice on tree related matters.
- Sound knowledge and understanding of the Urban Forest Act 2023 or demonstrated experience in interpreting and apply legislation on tree protection related matters.
- Demonstrated understanding of the issues associated with the management of urban trees, including the ability to undertake detailed field investigations that involve complex tree assessments and preparation of recommendations in line with legislation.
- Demonstrated experience in or knowledge of urban tree management and protection processes.
- Well-developed communication and negotiation skills to liaise effectively with management, staff, and members of the public and a demonstrated commitment to the delivery of high-quality customer service.
