The National Minimum Industry Standard for tree pruning in Australia and New Zealand.

This full-colour, fully-illustrated book provides the body of knowledge that every arborist conducting tree pruning should know, including considerations of the tree as a biomechanical structure, and up-to-date descriptions of tree physiology and biological functions.

The book also includes a huge list of tree pruning practices, including reduction, retrenchment and risk-abatement pruning techniques, as well as the latest information on weight- and lever-arm reduction, and discussion of the role of mass damping in limiting dynamic loads.

Techniques such as palm pruning or pollarding are described, as well as recent developments in the understanding of the tree's ecological value, and recommendations regarding the retention of dead branches in some trees.

Created with the collaboration of representatives from every State and Territory industry body, and leading technical experts from around the world, this MIS is the first to be published in partnership with the New Zealand Arboricultural Association.
