Techniques for Access, Work Positioning and Descent This book covers the work tasks of climbing equipment preparation and inspection, and tree access using a variety of climbing techniques. Many other techniques, climbing systems or configurations of climbing equipment are possible which are not discussed in this document. Nevertheless, the techniques presented in this document form a solid foundation on which practitioners can build. Rope inspection, knot tying, knot choice, tree identification, tree inspection, aerial rescue and the use of chainsaws or pruning tools to conduct work in trees are discussed in the appropriate Minimum Industry Standards. This is one of a series of Minimum Industry Standards (MISs) produced by Arboriculture Australia Ltd in consultation with the national arboriculture community. These industry peer-reviewed standards cover the skills and equipment with which competent practitioners should be familiar.
